DESIGNERS OF THE BEST HIGHER EDUCATION PROSPECTUS & FURTHER EDUCATION PROSPECTUS UK 2009

Staff from The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education (GIFHE) were honoured in a glittering ceremony at the FE First Awards last night, when they scooped two prestigious awards for their 2009/2010 Higher and Further Education Prospectuses.
The Annual FE First Awards are organised by the College Marketing Network and the content of both the Higher Education (HE) Prospectus and School Leavers’ Guide impressed the judges with their modern and user- friendly design.
Both the Higher Education Prospectus and School Leavers’ Guide for 2009/2010 received the top accolades in their categories with the Institute and it’s Marketing Team receiving high praise from the judges as the team were presented with their trophies.
Claire Bellamy, the Institute’s Marketing & Brand Manager, who managed the project, has been thrilled with this success and attended the ceremony to collect the awards, Claire said:
“It’s fantastic that we’ve done so well in both categories. The design and publication of our Further and Higher Education Prospectuses is one of our most important and influential marketing materials. For their success to be recognised by such a high profile organisation is wonderful for the team.”
The prospectuses were designed by SourceFour Ltd, a creative design agency that has developed a close working relationship with the Institute over the past few years and is a leading practitioner in graphic design. SourceFour Director, Robert Pritchard, ecstatic with the announcement, Robert said:
“I’m honoured that SourceFour has had the opportunity to work with the Institute’s Communications Team on these projects. My team and I are delighted to have been a part of the success, and winning these awards is a culmination of everyone’s hard work. I just want to say well done to everybody that’s been involved in these projects.”
NEW EDUCATIONAL TOOL
THE Grimsby Institute and local designers are celebrating the success of their new educational tool, Dr Q. The Dr Q programme was realised by the Institute's recruitment manager, Adele Murray, as a way of teaching youngsters about further education. The Dr Q logo and 3D mascot were created by local design company SourceFour with input from the area's children.
Initial work began on the Dr Q project in January, when teams from the Institute talked to Year Five pupils about their aspirations. Pupils were then invited to the Institute for a series of workshops, followed by prizes and certificates.
Adele said: "We have been delighted by the positive response from all the schools and particularly the students who have taken part. "Dr Q has been created with additional funding from Aimhigher, an organisation created to increase the number of learners entering higher education. "With their help, I feel we have given the students a taste of further and higher education choices available once they finish school."
